Our Home+ programme is ramping up in the final year to ensure delivery of the target of over 1,000 additional council homes by March 2027.

The programme, supported by Scottish Government Affordable Housing Supply Grant funding, continues to deliver much needed council homes across South Lanarkshire.

Last year, 111 new build homes were completed and a further 136 were acquired through our Market Purchase Scheme.

Many of the new homes were delivered through partnerships with developers on mixed‑tenure sites. Barratt Homes provided 40 homes at Jackton Hall East Kilbride and began handovers at Cornhill Village, Hamilton. Both developments offer a range of house types from two‑bedroom cottage flats to two, three and four‑bedroom homes and are designed for older tenants and families. Some properties include ground‑floor bedrooms and shower rooms to support additional accessibility needs.

Development continues in the Jackton area, with Bellway delivering 56 new homes on the Landsdale site and Barratt Homes delivering 40 homes at Eaglesham View.

In Cambuslang, work is well underway to deliver eight terraced houses in partnership with Dawn Homes at the Camas Walk development, with nine two-bedroom flats already handed over to tenants.

The former University of the West of Scotland site on Almada Street, Hamilton presents an exciting opportunity for new housing. Keepmoat is developing the site to include 36 council homes of various types and sizes, within the wider project.

Alongside partnerships with private developers, new homes are also being built by contractors on behalf of the council within established council housing areas. The development of 44 homes at Cairnswell Avenue, Cambuslang will provide energy‑efficient family housing designed to meet a range of housing needs.

Contractors are also delivering new homes on sites at Watson Street, Larkhall, and Backmuir Road and Reid Street, Hamilton. Development of these brownfield sites ensure land is re-used whilst providing houses in established areas where people want to live, enhancing communities.

All new homes will incorporate technology including air source heat pumps to comply with the Scottish Government legislation on zero emission heating systems, as well as fire suppression systems, and electric vehicle charging points.

In addition to delivering new homes, the council continues to acquire homes in areas of high demand through the Market Purchase Scheme, purchasing former council homes from owners and increasing council housing stock.
